Camille Terrell President
Camille is a senior in the Neag IB/M program majoring in secondary English education, alongside 2 minors, English and Sociology, both from CLAS. As President, she is excited to continue to make LID a safe and welcoming community, all while promoting change to the education system and having the important conversations.
Outside of time spent with LID, Camille is a tour guide at UConn’s Lodewick Visitors Center, works as a tutor, and is very involved in campus life and events. In the future, Camille plans to teach at the high school level, helping students achieve their dreams, find a safe place in school, and share the love for literature that she has always had. |
Carter Newman Vice President
Carter is a senior Elementary Education major with a concentration in English. At UConn, he is a tour guide at the Visitors Center and volunteers through the Big Brothers Big Sister chapter at UConn. Carter is also a member of the Black Student Association. In LID, he is the Vice President and is excited to attend conferences where he can explore the field of education and network with other educators of color. Carter hopes to begin a career in teaching and then eventually move into an administrative position with a focus on curriculum development.

Mileena Donawa Secretary
Mileena Donawa is currently an Elementary Education with an English concentration Masters student. She also has a minor in WGSS. She is very excited to play a larger role for the club/ group that provided her with solidarity, support and resources as a future educator of color. She is ready to begin working as this year's Secretary. She is currently studying abroad this fall semester which she describes as being incredible and is loving, but she is ready for the spring semester when she is back in action learning and facilitating!

Logan McCallum Laval Social Media Chair
Logan is a senior in the Neag IB/M program majoring in secondary English education. As Social media chair she is excited to continue to connect the Leadership in Diversity organization with the greater UConn community and share the organization’s beliefs regarding the experiences and excitement that comes from breaking apart of the education system.
Outside of time spent with LID, Logan is Admissions Intern and Special Assistant at UConn’s Lodewick Visitors Center, and is very involved campus activities. Logan’s future plans include teaching at the middle school level, assisting students in after school programs and becoming certified to teach students in the International Baccalaureate program. |
Daniel Lozano Treasurer
Daniel Lozano is a Senior in the Neag IB/M program, where he is majoring in secondary biology education and biological sciences. Additionally, he serves as a Resident Assistant within UConn's Residential Life Department. In his role as the Treasurer for LID, he takes charge of managing the organization's budget and fund disbursement. As a first-generation student, Daniel's educational pursuits are marked by a commitment to fostering culturally responsive science curriculums, particularly in lab-intensive courses with a focus on social justice. Currently, he is dedicated to planning units that educate students about the social injustices prevalent in the field of science, with a special emphasis on the experiences of communities of color.
